5 Things We as Designers wish Clients knew- Guest post Via Jennifer Renoylds -Atlanta

“If you have knowledge, let others light their candles in it.”  – Margaret Fuller -

Before I begin this post I just want to thank the Lovely and talented Jen Reynolds for guest posting today.

Not only do I love guest contributors. I love this topic!  I liked it so much that, for the next couple of months my friends & design colleagues, (send submissions in please) will be contributing to a new series every Wednesday…

You guessed it 5 things we wish clients knew!

My hope is that clients, both current and potential gain some insight into the truth the good, bad, and realities of Interior design….

A little info about Jen …..

Jennifer Reynolds is an Interior Designer based out of Atlanta, Georgia. She is the founder and passionate creator behind Jennifer Reynolds Interiors, a company devoted to authentically transforming the lives of her clients with her expertise and experience in the Luxury Interior Design field. JRI handles projects all over beautiful Atlanta, Roswell, and Alpharetta as well as outlying Lake Lanier and second homes.

Jennifer’s team focuses on producing the highest level of customization by paying close attention to every detail. With a host of talented artisans, trades people, workrooms, and contractors at her fingertips, Jennifer provides the essential expert resources for every project. This special concoction of experience, expertise and commitment ensures exceeded expectations every time.

1. Time: Interior Designers are not magicians and cannot come into a space, wave our arms, wiggle our nose and poof, your design is miraculously created. Creativity and great design takes time, proper planning and it is a process….not a 24 hour makeover show.

2. Custom: One-of-a-kinds and custom furnishings do not arrive overnight. The luxury of NOT having what everyone else has, takes time (and money).

3. Experience: All designers are not created equal. Education and experience should be at the forefront of your hiring criteria. Compatibility and personality could be a close second if you ask me!

4. Cost: I wish clients had a better understanding of what things cost. Do a bit of homework before you even reach out to a designer…come up with a list of furnishings you think you may need and then head over to your local retailer to start putting together a rough estimate.

5. Suitability: Working with an Interior Designer is not for everyone. Decide if your budget supports the costs associated with Professional Design services and if not, there are a number of excellent resources available through your local home improvement centers and furniture showrooms.

Hope you learned Lots from Atlanta thanks again Jen- Great insight
